For 2020, Gresham Wagner will be joining the new Spark Performance team for a full-season of Battery Tender Global MX-5 Cup. After finishing 8th in last year’s championship with Sick Sideways Racing, Wagner will move to Spark Performance and look to improve in his second season.
After a debut season with mixed fortunes, Wagner is looking to build on his experiences in the upcoming year. With the expertise of 2016 series champion and team leader Nathanial “Sparky” Sparks, Wagner and Spark Performance have their eyes set on successful debut at the quickly approaching Battery Tender Global MX-5 series test at Barber Motorsports Park. The team will be fielding a 2020 Global MX-5 Cup car for Wagner to continue in the premier ND2 class.
“I’m very excited to team up with Sparky and learn from all his experience in the series. I have a relationship with him from our time as teammates at Sick Sideways and I know he is one of the most knowledgeable people when it comes to the Global MX-5 Cup car and the series as a whole. He also helped me a ton when I started racing in SCCA in 2018, and I’m sure we’ll be even more successful now that I’ve improved myself on track. I can’t wait to get on track at the Barber test and get the season underway. I know it’ll be a fun year and hopefully we’ll have plenty to celebrate in 2020.” — Gresham Wagner
