At the rescheduled IndyCar event at Mid-Ohio on September 12, Gresham Wagner dominated race 1 of the MX-5 Cup series. After leading both official practice sessions and capturing poles for the pair of races on the day, Wagner led all 28 laps of the first race to earn his maiden win by a 1 second margin. Wagner and Michael Carter created a gap to the rest of the field throughout the race, and led 3rd across the line by over 10 seconds.
In the second race, Wagner again led early, followed by Carter and Robert Noaker. The three drivers found themselves with a considerable gap, and the top 3 battled each other for the win on the final lap. After leading all the laps until the white flag, Wagner was challenged by Carter and slipped to 3rd before the checkered. The 3rd place result completed a successful weekend for Wagner, after being a non-finisher in the previous 3 races.
The series returns to the same venue for the next event, competing alongside IMSA on September 25-26.
