Adding to his first championship title in 2021, Gresham Wagner fought to a second MX-5 Cup championship with a 1st and 3rd Place finish in the season-ending Petit Le Mans weekend. Entering the finale third in points, Wagner overcame the deficit to clinch the 2024 Drivers Championship in the final race, as well as the Team Championship for MMR.
After a season defined by consistency, composure, and performances when it mattered most, Gresham Wagner capped off the 2024 IMSA Mazda MX-5 Cup season as champion once again. Wagner delivered three race wins and eight podium finishes across the year, steadily building momentum from the season-opening victory at Daytona all the way through the championship-clinching finale at Road Atlanta. In one of the most competitive MX-5 Cup fields in recent memory, Wagner’s ability to stay at the front week after week ultimately separated the No. 5 car from the rest of the field.
Just as important to the title run was the strength of McCumbee McAleer Racing throughout the season. MMR established itself as the team to beat in 2024, regularly locking out podiums and putting multiple cars in championship contention. From Daytona to Mid-Ohio and Road Atlanta, the teamwork between Wagner, Jeremy Fletcher, Nate Cicero, and John Jodoin became one of the defining stories of the season, with the organization delivering fast, reliable cars and race-winning execution every weekend. Together, Wagner and MMR turned a strong season into a championship campaign that will be remembered as one of the standout efforts in recent MX-5 Cup history.
