Racing Panda’s Wagner and Che sweep Round 3 of Lotus Cup China in Chengdu

October 20, 2026 by admin

At the team’s home base, Gresham Wagner and Shaoyi Che completed a perfect weekend at Chengdu Tianfu International Circuit, sweeping both overall and Pro-Am class victories in Round 3 of the 2026 Lotus Cup China championship. Piloting the #29 Racing Panda Lotus Emira Cup, the pairing delivered two contrasting victories during the October 16–18 event, held alongside the FIA TCR World Tour as part of the Chengdu International Motorsport Festival.

After securing pole position in qualifying, Wagner and Che dominated Saturday’s opening race. Carrying over 20 seconds of additional mandatory pit-stop time due to his driver classification and success-penalty from Ningbo, Wagner opened up a considerable margin to the rest of the field in his opening stint, including fastest lap of the race, allowing the #29 entry to maintain a commanding advantage as Che took over driving duties for the final stint. Strong pace from both drivers, combined with effective pit-stop execution from Racing Panda, allowed the duo to overcome the time penalty and take the overall victory by more than 10 seconds.

Sunday’s second race proved a larger challenge, with multiple safety-car interruptions disrupting the running. After leading consistently from the start, Che handed the car over to Wagner at the pit stop. Following the mandatory driver change, Wagner faced the task of recovering the lead in the closing stages. He worked his way back into contention on the final restart of the race, before executing a decisive pass at the final corner of the penultimate lap, reclaiming the overall lead.

Wagner held the position through the checkered flag, securing the team’s second overall victory of the weekend and completing a clean sweep of both races in the Pro-Am category. He also recorded the fastest lap of Sunday’s race with a 1:28.939, set during the final lap of the contest.

The double victory continued a successful winning streak for Wagner and Che in their 2026 Lotus Cup China campaign, following their previous victory in Race 2 at Ningbo. The result further strengthened the #29 Racing Panda pairing’s championship campaign as the season approached its final rounds.
